Psychiatric Service Dogs are trained to assist individuals with a variety of emotional and psychological conditions including PTSD, and obsessive compulsive disorders.

Tasks for a Psychiatric Service Dog include:
​
* Alert and interrupt an anxiety or psychiatric event;
​
* Boundary control and body blocking;
​
* Turn on lights in a dark room, perform a room check;
* Deep pressure therapy;
* Interrupt a nightmare;
​
* Get help from another or call for help; and
​
* Retrieve medication.
